A Genius Named Srimad Sudhindra Tirtha

A new book ‘A Genius Named Srimad Sudhindra Tirtha’ was released on 5th April 2015, at Vyasashram,  Haridwar by the divine hands of Sri Sudhindra Tirtha.

The book contains:

  • All the Sanskrit stotras composed by Sri Sudhindra Tirtha in Devanagari/Hindi scripts
  • Translations of these stotras into English
  • Commentaries on these Sanskrit works including references to Mahabharata, Bhagavata along with an analysis on the meters used by Swamiji

The book is published by ‘Srimad Bhagavata Prakashana Trust’, Bangalore.

Pictures of the book release are attached. A small note about the book is also provided below “Srimad Sudhindra Tirtha, the present pontiff of Sri Kashi Math samsthan, fits the definition of a genius in more aspects than one.

The number of verses composed by Sudhindra Tirtha is a whopping 500!! Sri Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji has composed nearly 30 stotras in chaste Sanskrit. A feat hardly achieved by any of the ascetics of these days – not just ascetics, hardly achieved by a full-time Sanskrit scholar of yore too.

The stotras also refer to a lot of incidents from Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagavata and other Puranas and Vedic scriptures. The tenets Madhvacharya’s Tattvavada philosophy are spread across these works.

Daily chanting/reading with understanding would definitely push the saadhaka in the right path of his/her spiritual saadhana”.

The book is priced at a nominal Rs.100 and is available at Kashi Math, Bangalore and at Walkeshwar Math, Mumbai.

  1. I have started reading this wonderful book. Outstanding work done by Mr. Girish Prabhu. Wish each GSB reads this book and recite each stotra/prarthana/Stuti of our swamyGi.

  2. Is there is any book which gives details like date / period / place / situation /mood in which the stotra/prarthana/stuti are penned by Swamiji ?

  3. Each sloka makes real feel of supreme bliss and visualise the greatness of Lord Vyasa-Krishna. The word “Genius” can be truly justified through BG 11.55 “Matkarmakrinmatparamo madbhaktah sangavarjitah; Nirvairah sarvabhooteshu yah sa maameti paandava” which is essence of the whole teaching of the Gita.

  4. Thank you Somashekar ji for the kind words. Yes, HH is indeed a multi-dimensional personality. We are simply blessed to have Him as our Guru.
Also, regarding whether we have the details of time/place when Swamiji had penned the stotras: No, we currently don’t have such details, except for a few stotras, which is captured in the book at places.
Example: Divya shishu vyasa stotra was penned on Vedavyasa jayanti at Kalpi in 2002. ‘Atha Prarthana’ was penned at Haridwar in 1987.

  5. Namaskar Prabhu maam, i wasn’t aware of this book until I read this article. Will certainly buy when i visit Walkeshwar Math.
